U.S. courts have required a 32 years old woman in this country paid a huge amounts for downloading on more than twenty songs illegal.
Jammie Thomas-Rasset, lives in Minnesota, has alleged use of the network sharing Kazaa peer to download the files in 10/2007. She is one of thousands of people who was sued by RIAA and radio companies for sharing entertainment content illegally. Most of them later agreed to the penalty amount of $3,000 - 5,000 to avoid court.
Thomas-Rasset is the first one to reject this agreement. As a result, she will have to pay the compensation to $80,000/song for audio manufacturers Capitol Records, Sony BMG Music, Arista Records, Interscope Records, Warner Bros. Records and UMG Recordings.
On 12/2008, RIAA declares stop sueing users, instead will coordinate with the internet service providers to limit state load music, or illegal movies.
