Sachoom” is a form of the nonverbal dance-musical combination commonly known as dance-cal.

Since it premiered in 2004, the show has become South Korea’s biggest theatrical drawcard, even outdoing Nanta and Jump!

It tells the story of a beautiful girl who is loved by two guys and how they all mature into the best club dancers around.

According to the publicity blurb, “Sachoom” breaks down the barriers between actors and audience so that by the end the audience is up on its feet and dancing along.

The show topped the list of 2,000 performances at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Also last year, “Sachoom” claimed first prize at the Korea in Motion Nonverbal Festival held by the Korean Tourism Organization.

The promoters of the upcoming tour are Insight Vietnam and Korea’s Do-Be-Com Company, who are getting support from the Korean Cultural Center in Hanoi.

Sachoom” will be onstage at the Hanoi Friendship Palace from June 18-21, Trung Vuong Theater in Da Nang from June 26-28 and Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City from July 2-5.

Tickets for the show cost VND100,000 (US$5.48) to VND400,000 ($23.38) and can be obtained at the venues or by emailing insight@fpt.vn. Students get a 30 percent discount.
